A road altercation turned serious for Kannada filmstar Gururaj on Monday, after he was stabbed in the thigh by a man.
The son of actor-turned-politician Jaggesh, who rose to fame with his film Gilli, was stabbed by a man who apparently hit the actor’s car. The actor required nine stitches on his left thigh and is now back home.
The incident occurred when the actor was on his way to drop his son to school in Bengaluru’s RT Nagar at around 8.30am on Monday.
"He collided with my car. He was driving recklessly. I got down and objected to his rash driving,” the actor told reporters.
An altercation then broke out, and it came down to ‘do you know who I am,’ the actor told reporters.
“Soon after I told him that I was Jaggesh’s son, he rushed back to his car. I thought he was going to get his cellphone, but before I could figure anything out, he brought a knife out and stabbed me,” Gururaj told reporters.
The actor said he was attacked only when the assailant came to know that he was the son of 'Navarasa Nayaka' Jaggesh.
When reporters asked the actor if the aggressor was drunk, he said, “No, he was in his senses. He was very clear about what he was doing. It was planned and intentional.”
The actor also complained about how people around were motionless, mute spectators. “Injury wise, I’m fine, but mentally, I’m very hurt. No one came forward to help me. They all watched what was happening. That’s all,” he said.
“When you’re watching something like this, please help. There are ten people around, you could have easily stopped him. Instead, you let him escape,” Gururaj said.
The International Business Times report said that Jaggesh released a statement, saying, "If they had stabbed his even a little upwards, things would have taken a different turn by now. Thank God, he is safe and is recovering well."
The police have registered a case and the attacker has been identified as a man called Shivashankar, after examining CCTV footages.
