With the CM accusing Modi of lying at his Sunday rally, Yeddyurappa retaliated by claiming Siddaramaiah was corrupt.
With the Karnataka polls four months away, it looks like Twitter has become the centre stage for the battle, especially after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bengaluru visit on Sunday. Since Sunday, the Congress party and the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have been on the offensive. The party countered the BJP on every unfavourable comment made against the party/state government and also accused the PM of lying.  BJP has tanked the Economy, tanked up the Corruption while claiming otherwise... with perfect #EaseOfLying pic.twitter.com/0eBYvfcAmF — Karnataka Congress (@INCKarnataka) February 6, 2018   Dear @narendramodi ರವರೆ, being the PM of the country your words should carry high credibility. I would therefore request you to substantiate your allegation “corruption & misgovernance are rampant” with facts. Let us fight this election with dignity & based on #justfacts . https://t.co/D9gHyxWr61— Siddaramaiah (@siddaramaiah) February 5, 2018   I am glad PM @narendramodi is talking about corruption. I now invite him to #WalktheTalk . For a start can you 1. Appoint Lok Pal 2. Investigate #JudgeLoya ‘s death 3. Investigate the astronomical rise of #Jayshah 4. Appoint an untainted person as your CM candidate ? — Siddaramaiah (@siddaramaiah) February 6, 2018   Not to be left behind, the BJP’s chief ministerial aspirant BS Yeddyurappa hit back at the CM of Karnataka. Dear Mr. #10PercentCM @siddaramaiah, I am equally glad that you have started this discussion. Before we head up North to Delhi, why don’t you answer a few questions here: - Why did you quash all the powers of #Lokayukta and make it a toothless body? #Dare2Answer — B.S. Yeddyurappa (@BSYBJP) February 6, 2018 In his tweet, Yeddyurappa questioned, “Why did you quash all the powers of #Lokayukta and make it a toothless body?”   Q2: Dear Mr #10PercentCM @siddaramaiah, what action have you taken against @thekjgeorge who is the first accused in CBI FIR in DySP MK Ganapathy suicide case? Why are you standing by such a minister? What merit can your cabinet boast of with such tainted people in it?#Dare2Answer pic.twitter.com/siwYmeKmTX — B.S. Yeddyurappa (@BSYBJP) February 6, 2018   He also went onto question Siddaramaiah for not taking any action against minister KJ George after he was named as an accused by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the mysterious death of Deputy Superintendent Ganapathy. Q3 Dear Mr #10PercentCM @siddaramaiah, let me remind you of your 70 Lakh Hublot watch, which is believed to have been accepted as an official favor from a Biz-man in exchange for you approving projects violating all rules. Proof enough for blatant corruption, isn't it?#Dare2Answer— B.S. Yeddyurappa (@BSYBJP) February 6, 2018 In his final tweet in the series, the former CM invoked the controversial luxury watch that Siddaramaiah had received from his friend as a gift. Yeddyurappa (@BSYBJP) February 6, 2018 Since Modi’s rally on Sunday, the local leadership has been very vocal about the PM choosing not to speak over the contentious Mahadayi water-sharing dispute.  Mr. Modi, in your hour long speech, why did you maintain your 'maun' on Mahadayi? BJP continues to cheat the people of Karnataka. #ModiLies #BJPMahadayiMosa pic.twitter.com/GXtlz0o2bm — Karnataka Congress (@INCKarnataka) February 4, 2018   CM Siddaramaiah jumped into the fray too, countering allegations made by the PM on Sunday and also attacking him for his alleged role in the Gujarat riots, during his chief ministership. On Tuesday, he also attacked the PM for not appointing a Lokayukta in Gujarat during his tenure. In his latest tweet on PM Modi, Siddaramaiah asked him to appoint a Lokpal to investigate the controversial death of Judge Loya and also appoint an “untainted person” as the BJP’s CM candidate.   I am glad PM @narendramodi is talking about corruption. I now invite him to #WalktheTalk . For a start can you 1. Appoint Lok Pal 2. Investigate #JudgeLoya ‘s death 3. Investigate the astronomical rise of #Jayshah 4. Appoint an untainted person as your CM candidate ? — Siddaramaiah (@siddaramaiah) February 6, 2018   Addressing thousands of BJP supporters in Palace Grounds, PM Modi had accused the Siddaramaiah-led government of being corrupt and said that it has not been able to efficiently utilise the funds the Centre had released to it in the last four years. The following day, CM Siddaramaiah had countered these allegations in his speech at the State Assembly.
